Announcement of the release of
“Guidelines for Maintenance and Repair of Port and Harbour Facilities”

May 25, 2023

We are pleased to announce that now we have “Guidelines for Maintenance and Repair of Port and Harbour Facilities”. The Coastal Development Institute of Technology (CDIT) published its Japanese version in July 2018, which is the source of the English Guidelines. We would like to inform you that the English Guidelines can be downloaded free of charge here.

In addition, as reference materials to understand Part 3 of the English Guidelines, the deformation chain (performance degradation chain) of port and harbor facilities are given there as short animations. The animations originally produced by Port and Airport Research Institute, show how the deformation that likely occurs in port facilities progresses that maintenance engineers must understand. The animations are produced for the following four types of port and harbor facilities:

(1) Open-type wharf (superstructure)
(2) Open-type wharf (substructure)
(3) Sheet-pile quaywall
(4) Caisson-type breakwater (with wave-dissipating blocks)

The same animations in Japanese version can be found in the official website of the Association of Maintenance Engineer for Maritime, Port and Harbor Infrastructure.
